Letter Ss & New Blog

We had so much silly fun during our letter Ss week.  We learned about snakes, Spring, and even played with rainbow sand in our sensory table.  On Friday, we had a Silly Sock Day and had a fun pizza lunch!  I really enjoyed reading about the your surprises in all the homework journals too!  They were very sweet and touched my heart greatly!

I want to thank all of the families who saw me off with the very many special gifts and flowers.  Each one of your cards and letters really means a lot to me.  I have been talking with Ms. Reham and I am happy to hear that all of the children are doing very well and making the transition easily.  I also heard that the Teddy Bear day was a hit! She has been sharing pictures with me and I just love to see all of their smiling faces!

Through the week I have been putting together a new blog site for Ms. Reham.  She has officially made her first blog post today!  From here on out you can see pictures of your children and receive updates on her blog : http://msrehamprek.blogspot.com/

You should be receiving an email version of her blog post just as you have with mine in the past.  If you do not receive one in the next few days please contact her and let her know.  You can also add yourself directly to the mailing list by entering your email address on the right side of the blog where it says , Follow By Email.

Just a reminder, if you didn't already hand in your Teacher Questionnaire for Kindergarten to me previously, please send them in to Ms. Reham and she will give them to me to fill out. These forms get sent directly to your child's new school by me, so you will not be receiving these back.

St. Patrick's Day

We had such a magical St. Patrick's Day! A little mischievous and bold Leprechaun visited our classroom leaving us clues to help put his rainbow back together!  We all worked together to understand his clues and we did it!! We found all the colors of the rainbow!  The Leprechaun was so happy that he left us a small pot of gold to share with everyone.

Through the day we used shamrock letters to work on putting letters in alphabetical order.  We also used shamrock numbers to play the "Find the Missing Number" game.  We made silly green headbands and even made our own little handprint leprechauns.  We danced to Irish music as we learned about Irish heritage.

We hope you all had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!

Please still look out for our regular weekly blog post at the end of the week.

Last week, we had a quiet time learning about Quilla Queen in her quiet kingdom.  We had such a fun time using Q-tips to make our own unique creatures just like Dr. Seuss' silly characters.  We also continued through the week working on our Q-tip paintings where we learned about pointillism.  On Friday, the children all were able to participate in making our class quilt(pictures coming soon).  We also celebrated two birthday in our class this week!

Signs of Spring

On the way out this afternoon I spotted signs of Spring coming soon in our garden! I am so excited to start preparing our garden with my class and to see what our garden will become this year!   This is my 2nd year gardening, the first year was a  learning experience just as much for me as it was for my students. If anyone has any tips please feel free to let me know as I will gladly take them. 😀

Check out the pictures below from last years garden.

Letter Pp & Number 16

Last week, we had a wonderful time learning about the letter Pp with Penelope Pig!  We worked on many puzzles through the week and we had our first group of friends to finish a one hundred piece puzzle!  We also celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday (March 2nd)  all week by reading many books each day.  We read some familiar Dr. Seuss books such as, " The Cat in the Hat", "Green Eggs and Ham", "Dr. Seuss' ABC Book",  and "The Cat in the Hat Comes Back".  We learned through reading a Scholastic reader that Dr. Seuss loved hats! He loved to wear silly hats because he thought they gave him his silly thoughts.  We all made our own silly hats just like Dr. Seuss.  We also made silly Thing Ones and Thing Twos, characters from " The Cat in the Hat", with our handprints.  On Friday, our classmate reread the story " Green Eggs and Ham" and we all were able to try real green eggs and ham! When we were finished with used tally marks to see how many students liked the eggs and ham and how many friends did not like them.  We had a total of six students who liked them and four students who did not like them.

This week we will be learning about letter Qq with Quilla Queen and the number seventeen.

Just a reminder, please remember to check your child's folder and remove all papers/notes each night on the Keep at Home side.

Monday, March 17th is our St. Patrick's Day party.  Please send your child to school wearing green.
