This week we focused on letter Mm with Marvin the Monkey. We all had so much fun singing two of our favorite monkey songs: "5 Little Monkeys Swinging in a Tree" & " 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed". We practiced writing our letter Mm's and made monkey puppets.
On Wednesday, we discussed groundhog day and what it means to us if he sees his shadow or if he does not see his shadow. We all took a guess at what we thought would happen and it turns out that most friends in our class thought that the groundhog would see his shadow and they were right! On Wednesday we also worked on number ten.
On Friday, we started the day by reading, " The Mitten" by Jan Brett. We really made the story come to life when we acted out each part with puppets. To learn more about Jan Brett and other books we have read please

Each of the children first colored their sorting sheets by looking at each color word and sounding out the letters. We then found the matching word under our graph and circled it with the appropriate color. We we were ready we opening up our M & M bags and began sorting and graphing. It turns out that as a class we had the most orange M & M's. When all the hard work was over we of course got to eat our M & M's. Later in the day we read the story, " If You Take a Mouse to the Movies" that was brought in for show and tell.
Next Week:
We will be learning about letter Nn, review numbers 1-10, work on Valentine's day crafts, discuss dental health, and celebrate two friends birthdays.

Also if you would like to bring in Valentine cards for your child to give to his/her classmates please feel free to bring them in starting this Monday.
