Last Week:
On Monday, we learned about letter UU with Uncle Ugbee. We made umbrellas using paper plates and listed reasons why we like spring on each raindrop( they are hanging in the classroom). We read, " The Earth Book" by Todd Parr and discussed our Earth ( land vs water) and how to take care of our Earth.
On Wednesday, we read, " Michael Recycle" by Ellie Bethel about a green caped superhero who helps the Earth by teaching other how to recycle. We also learned what it means to reduce, reuse, and recycle. We sorted different recyclable items you brought in to school and thought of ways to reuse some items. We also had so much fun painting rocks for our Earth Day project. Scroll down to see pictures.
On Friday, we read, " Michael Recycle meets Litterbug Doug". We completed a trash sorting worksheet and then went outside to sort real trash. When we were finished we all placed our rocks in the garden. We enjoyed singing " We Have the Whole World in our Hands" while passing the Earth around the circle. We also had A Cup of Dirt as a special snack.
This Week:
This week we will be learning about letter Vv with Victor the Vulture.
On Friday, we will be making edible Vegetable Faces. I have placed a vegetable wish list in the hallway if anyone would be able to bring in a vegetable for the class. If you sign up for a vegetable, please bring in it Friday morning washed and cut in different ways to allow for ultimate creativity. :)
Thank you!
